The Most Common GLP-1 Side Effects
The most frequently reported side effects of GLP-1 medications are gastrointestinal: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, and stomach discomfort. These occur because GLP-1 medications slow gastric emptying—food moves more slowly through the digestive system, which can cause discomfort especially early in treatment.
Nausea is the most common, affecting roughly 30–50% of users at some point during treatment. It's typically most pronounced during dose increases and usually improves significantly within a few weeks.
Fatigue is also reported by some users, particularly in the early weeks of treatment. This is often related to lower food intake and the body's adjustment to the medication.
